Other Experience

Consulting Elder
Interlink Fellowship, Richmond, VA
Since the pandemic I have reconnected with the church where I first served as a pastor, now known as Interlink Fellowship. I have worked with the elder team there for several years in mapping out new ministry directives for the fellowship. I meet weekly with the elder team for strategy sessions. I also provide technical expertise, most notably as the church’s webmaster.

President/Board Member
Kona Ministers’ Fellowship
, Kailua-Kona, HI
KMF is made up of pastors from across the area, regardless of denominational affiliation. I was active in the group for my whole time on the island. I served as the Fellowship’s Treasurer for two years, utilizing Quickbooks to maintain financial records. My most visible job was heading up the annual Community Sonrise Service on Easter Sunday morning. As the lead for this event, which had an average attendance of about 1200 people from many churches as well as visitors to the island, I was responsible for coordinating music, speakers, security, facilities, and promotion. In addition, I developed and maintained the KMF website.

President/Board Member
Lokahi Makai Homeowners Association
, Kailua-Kona, HI
I was on the board for a total of about seven years. During that time I served as the President twice. Lokahi Makai is made up of about 190 homes. During my tenure we dedicated the roads to Hawai’i County, which greatly reduced our liability exposure and reserve requirements. Among some of our successful initiatives were reducing the incursion of goats onto homeowner lots, removing invasive plant species, upgrading the design guidelines, and more fairly dealing with violations of community rules. I also developed and maintained the community website.

Co-Founder
West Hawai’i Real Estate Investors Association (REIA)
, Kailua-Kona, HI
Fellow real estate investor Victor Leonardi and I launched the West Hawai’i REIA in 2016. We held monthly meetings to teach and train local investors, as well as to give them a venue to forge professional relationships. I built a sizeable database and sent out multiple communications per month via MailChimp. Eventually our meetings drew investors from all across the island and we had many sought-after guest speakers from business and local government.

Candidate
Hawai’i County 6th District
, Kailua-Kona, HI
I ran for the 6th District State House seat against incumbent Nicole Lowen. This required me to campaign extensively, knocking on prospective voters’ doors and sign waving around the community. In the end I received about 32% of the vote.

Board Member
Hawaiian Housing Initiative
, Hilo, HI
I was very active in this non-profit, which was working to provide affordable, mortgageable housing for residents of the Big Island. We worked with the mayor’s office, the county council, and other agencies during my tenure. I developed the organization’s website, our investor packet, and a number of promotional materials.

Treasurer
Big Island Baptist Association
, Hilo, HI
While pastoring Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, I was a regular contributor to BIBA. I was elected as the association’s Treasurer and served even after my time at Cornerstone. I managed the association’s finances using Quickbooks. This included the receipt and dispersal of money, providing financial reports to all churches, and the proper management of designated funds.

Bible Teacher
Henrico County Jail
, Richmond, VA
I was approved as a teacher at the jail, under the auspices of Good News Jail and Prison Ministry (now known as Good News Global.) I delivered a monthly Bible study to an average of 15 inmates.
